I fell in love with the sport after I did my first K1 race at the Lac Sergent regatta, 3 years after my debut

I started paddling in 2003 at the  Lac Beauport Canoe Kayak Club. At first, I wanted to race canoeing to do like my big brother Maxim, but I could not find my balance and comfort. I fell in love with the sport after I did my first K1 race at the Lac Sergent regatta, 3 years after my debut. Since then, I never wanted to touch a C1 ever again!

My brother was named after Maxime Boillard, Canoe Olympian who participated in the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and has since become an important mentor in my life. As a kid, my idol was Adam Van Koeverden and when I joined the Canadian team, I was lucky enough to be in the same boat of my idol at the World Championships in 2015. It was a dream come true. Ever since I started kayaking, I’ve always loved getting to the canoe club on a quiet morning and being first on the water, it is the best feeling in the world.
